Sweatlodge

At our sacred site near the gigantic Amate tree a new sweat lodge is erected every spring. In front is the fire pit where the fireman picks up glowing volcanic rocks and leaves them in a dug hole in the middle of the lodge. Every stone is greeted by antlers, resin and the word ometaquiasim. Inside hangs pieces of cloth with the four colors, red, black, white and yellow representing the four directions. Andres pours water on the stones and the ritual can start.
